Nirvana of Awesomeness! MVPs Lead the 24-hour Hack@MIND in an Art Gallery!


“Developer? Designer? Have no doubt of your awesomeness. Come chill with us and Hack your Ideas into Apps!” says the tagline for Hack@MIND Metro Hackathon, held on Saturday, June 2 & 3, 2012 at White Box, MAP @ Publika, KL, Malaysia.

Continuing the Windows 8 momentum in Malaysia, the brainchild of 3 Malaysia MVPs (Kok Chiann, Daqing Lee and Yee Jie Ng) together with Microsoft DPE Team (Aswin C., Peter Tam, Matthew Khaw, Ian Su, Hoong Fai Lai) and champs in the developer community (Lee Chong Yang, Yen Yen) , the Metro Hackathon was organized and delivered by the MIND (Malaysia Independent Developers) User Group, which strives to help participants realized their ideas and built them into useful apps and programs.

It attracted a fervent community of 60 developers, formed into 16 teams, built a total of 20 apps, 4 OSS projects in 24 hours! Together, they were said to have achieved the “nirvana of awesomeness!”

“As quoted by Expression Blend MVP Kok Chiann: “It was great fun chilling out with developers and designers, and watching them collaborate and hack up awesome solutions for Windows 8 even before it is released!”

Metro Hackathon is an event where participants turned their ideas into apps, and join in the challenges offered on Windows 8, Windows Phone, Diablo III, Photosynth, Design, Startup and Open Source.

A hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others in the field of software development, like graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software-related.
