“Breaking a Myth” and “Doing it Right” at SS SLUG

The Sri Lanka SQL Server User Group meet-up was held on July 18, 2012 at Microsoft Sri Lanka. A surprise give-away of SQL Server 2012 t-shirts for (almost) every participant courtesy Microsoft Sri Lanka was the highlight of the event. The meet-up included a full-length session and a mini session targeting database developers and administrators delivered by 2 MVPs.

MVP Gogula Aryalingam spoke on “Do It Right: Database Development and Design Considerations” where he focused on aspects that needed special attention when developing and designing a database schema whereas MVP Dinesh Asanka broke a SQL myth in 5 minutes in his continuing series: “Breaking a Myth in 300 Seconds: Full Backup is required to restore a broken log backup chain which was focused towards DBAs.” This user group meeting reached out to ~ 33 attendees.

Slide decks and sample code used at the July 2012 SS SLUG meet-up are available for download (only available for registered users). Visit the Gallery for photographs from the meet-up.

Cheers,

SEA MVP Team
