Windows 8 Hackathon comes Alive in Philippines!

Windows 8 momentum has been going strong in Southeast Asia, and this has hit the developers in the Philippines! The developer community in the Philippines have organized their own Windows 8 Hackathon, re-imagining and creating their ideas into apps.

A 2-day workshop on Hacking your way to building Windows 8 Metro Style App with XAML and C#, with the 2nd day as the full-day Hackathon, was held at Microsoft Philippines office on July 14 – 15, 2012.

Hosted by Philippine Windows Developers Group, several community influencers and Philippines MVPs came together to organize the workshop and delivered a total of 10 sessions, covering 8 topics, giving different perspectives on Microsoft technologies and tools available to develop Windows 8 applications to 50 attendees. “The main objective of the workshop is to reach out to C# developers and present to them the platform for Metro style application development”, said MVP Allan Mangune who helps out at the organizer of the workshop.

MVP Warren Yu shared: “I think we were able to communicate the "wow" factor of Microsoft’s Windows 8 platform at the same time how much support Microsoft provide to developers wanting to develop applications on Windows 8. I got to talk to a few folks. They found the topics informative and some have already started building their apps and would like to get it out to the marketplace!”

WOW indeed! It is truly impressive to see such enthusiasm and passion from our Philippines MVPs and developers!
